Dispute Resolution and Litigation

Our lawyers’ dispute resolution and litigation representations include:

  • The City of New York in litigation arising out of the collapse of 7 World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. Con Edison, Silverstein Properties and their insurers asserted claims and brought suit against the city in connection with the design and construction of the City’s Office of Emergency Management in the building.  We continue to represent the city on various litigation and discovery issues, after succeeding in having approximately $1 billion in claims dismissed.
  • The New York Times in connection with disputes arising out of the construction of its new Times Square headquarters. The grand opening of this signature building, which incorporates state-of-the-art green technology, was featured by major media outlets. The building is part of the resurgence of Times Square and is a major component of NYC’s skyline.
  • Northeast Biofuels, the owner/operator of a large ethanol plant located in upstate New York, which is designed to produce 100 million gallons of ethanol per year. We are counseling NEB in its dispute with the engineering, procurement and construction contractor concerning defective work, additional costs and delays on the project.
  • The owners of two buildings on 178 Hester Street in Manhattan in their litigation against the owners of an adjacent building. Our clients’ buildings suffered, and continue to suffer, substantial damage as a result of the adjacent owner's wrongful actions during the excavation for and construction of the neighboring building. In a related suit, we also represent these owners against their insurance carrier for coverage relating to the losses incurred.
