As the design and construction industries adopt new technologies, including building information modeling (BIM), companies must confront risk-management issues while standards are still being developed. These issues include project delivery, liability, risk allocation, cost shifting, collaboration agreements, insurance coverage, intellectual property, software licensing, proprietary information, data storage, project Web hosting, protection of technology and potential export controls. Our construction group counsels clients on best practices with respect to these issues domestically and internationally, including in Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

In addition, our construction group developed and hosted the New York Owners BIM Forum in June 2008 to provide a voice for owners within the BIM conversation.
