    About the Guest Speaker

    Joseph Mohorovic

    Joseph Mohorovic was sworn in as a Republican Commissioner of the US Consumer Product Safety Commission by President Barack Obama in October 2013 and confirmed by the US Senate in July 2014. Prior to joining the Commission, Mr. Mohorovic was Senior Vice President of Intertek, a global leader in product testing, where he was responsible for all aspects of performance, growth and strategic management in the North American region. Before joining Intertek, Mohorovic’s public service included two terms as State Representative for New Mexico’s 28th District before resigning elected office to serve in the CPSC administration of former Chairman Hal Stratton from 2002 through 2007. Mr. Mohorovic graduated from the University of Texas at Austin and he holds an M.B.A from the University of New Mexico.

    Georgia C. Ravitz

    Georgia C. Ravitz leads the Consumer Product Safety practice at Arent Fox where she focuses on the laws and regulations pertaining to consumer products generally, including electronics, appliances, housewares, and apparel. Georgia also interfaces with various state and local regulatory agencies responsible for consumer health and safety, as well as the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) concerning their regulation of various aspects of consumer products. She has represented many companies before the CPSC in recall and enforcement proceedings, and has successfully negotiated and settled CPSC civil penalty investigations.

    Scott A. Cohn

    Scott A. Cohn’s practice also involves counseling and representing companies in connection with consumer product recalls conducted in cooperation with CPSC, as well as with Health Canada and similar regulatory agencies worldwide. Scott has extensive experience in recalls of all product categories and across all industry sectors. He has also successfully negotiated settlements with CPSC on behalf of retailers, wholesalers, importers, and manufacturers in enforcement actions involving civil penalty assessments.
