Arent Fox and BDO Co-Sponsor Half-Day Healthcare Conference

On January 24, 2017, Arent Fox’s Health Care group and the BDO Center for Healthcare Excellence and Innovation hosted a half day conference, titled “Emerging Issues In Healthcare Finance & Compliance: Navigating The Winds Of Change.” The event included a featured speaker and two panels focused on new trends and developing issues in healthcare finance and compliance.

Our Featured Speaker, Lisa Goldstein, Associate Managing Director and head of Moody’s healthcare group, offered comments on the financial drivers within the healthcare sector today and other topics of current interest. The Finance Panel addressed major trends and challenges for providers; innovation in healthcare delivery, technology and financing strategies; and the future of healthcare under President Trump. The Compliance Panel included discussions of workplace and employer compliance, including wage and hour and new labor/management issues; enterprise liability, including False Claims Act and other statutory claims; cyber security threats and responses; and implications of the repeal of the Affordable Care Act from a compliance perspective.

The resulting roundtable discussions were lively and insightful, and were well attended by hospital executives and compliance officers, as well as CEOs and presidents of banks and consulting firms. We were grateful to have an esteemed group of individuals on our panels and in our audience, whose knowledge of the issues and enthusiastic engagement made the event a rousing success.
