Arent Fox Assists Veteran in VA Appeal for Benefits
Arent Fox successfully assisted a veteran in his VA appeal for benefits. The client, who initially filed for VA benefits in 1982, refiled a request for benefits that included a Post Traumatic Stress Disorder claim in December 2008. The VA sought to deny the PTSD claim. Following numerous visits to several health care providers, the Arent Fox team obtained a report linking the client's PTSD claim to his military service. The VA reversed its earlier decision and granted the client a PTSD rating of 100 percent (the highest award possible). In addition, the VA made the rating retroactive to December 2008, thereby affording the client several years of disability compensation and significantly improving the client's quality of life and access to needed medical care.
